ordinate dimensions

A method of dimensioning a part in a blueprint that describes all of the part features as a horizontal and vertical distance from a base point. In the drawing below the rectangular part has a base of zero/zero at the bottom left hand corner and all part features are referenced to that base. Therefore the CNC programmer can use the bottom left hand corner as the program zero point (origin) and all of the other features can be established as coordinates in relation to the origin For example the top right corner of the part is X3.784 Y1.935
