Hot rolled steel

Hot rolled steel is steel that is rolled to size in the mill while red hot. Hot rolling steel does not work harden it as much as cold working steel. For this reason, hot rolled steel is more easily machined than cold rolled. Hot rolled can be identified by its rough and scaled finish. See also cold rolled steel
