Cutting speed
Reference value used to cut a specific material efficiently. Cutting speed (CS) is always listed in surface feet per minute and is derived from empirical tables. To calculate spindle speeds in RPM use the formula: (CS x 4)/dia where CS is the cutting speed in surface feet per minute and dia is the diameter of the cutter in a mill or the diameter of the work piece in a lathe.
